María Elena Gronemeyer
Education
María Elena Gronemeyer is the Academic Projects Coordinator at the Institute of Applied Ethics UC. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a degree in Journalism from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and a PhD in Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina (UNC) – Chapel Hill, USA. She received the William Francis Klingman Jr. Ethics Award at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, UNC – Chapel Hill.
Experience in Applied Ethics
She was an associate professor in the Faculty of Communications at UC, where she taught Communication Ethics at undergraduate and graduate levels, and conducted research in media ethics and media and politics. She received the Teaching Excellence Award at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She chaired the Scientific Ethics Committee for Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities at UC, and was a member of the FONDECYT Bioethics Advisory Committee, the FONDECYT Ethics Subcommittee for Social Sciences and Humanities, the Media Ethics Council, and the Chilean Association of Communication Researchers (Incom).
