Fernando Arancibia

Education

Fernando Arancibia Collao is an assistant professor at the Institute of Applied Ethics of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He holds a Master’s degree and a PhD in Philosophy from the same institution. His doctoral thesis was awarded the Cardinal Newman Prize (2018) by the Vice-Rectorate for Research (VRI) and the UC Pastoral Office. He holds degrees in Philosophy and Education, as well as a teaching certification in Philosophy, from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso.

Research

He teaches and conducts research in the area of applied ethics, with an emphasis on the ethics of economics and business, statistics, and the Ethics and Economics programs for UC Master’s students. He is the author of the book Religión en el Espacio Público [Religion in the Public Space] (Santiago, Chile: Ed. Olejnik, 2017) and of specialized articles in indexed journals.  He is currently working on a FONDECYT Regular Project on the notion of the common good and its connection to social welfare. He has served as keynote speaker at academic interviews and lectures, and has taught at numerous higher education institutions and public bodies, including the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez and the Judicial Academy. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Revista Veritas (Scopus) and as South American Representative of the Society for Applied Philosophy.
